JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have confirmed businessman and radio host Sibusiso Leope popularly known as DJ Sbu has been arrested for alleged drunk driving in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg.

The controversial DJ was arrested while travelling along Main Reef road in the early hours of this morning.

The police's Tsekiso Mofokeng said, "In the early hours of this morning, police were patrolling Main Reef road near Randfontein. He was arrested for drunken driving and the person driving was DJ Sbu."

The South African Bereau of Standards (SABS) confirmed in April that DJ Sbu's controversial energy drink, Mofaya has not been approved by officials and displays the statutory body's logo illegally.

The SABS' Frank Makamo said, "It is being handled by the legal department and my legal team has met with the company in question."

DJ Sbu has admitted that mistakes were made but says he is new in the business and is hopeful that the problem could be solved amicably.

"We're negotiating with the SABS to get all the necessary processes right, we want to have a relationship with the SABS so that in future we don't repeat the same mistakes."

The DJ's eagerness to market his energy drink has previously resulted in the South African Broadcasting Corporation charging him for every time he mentioned it on air and then sacking him.

He also got into a fight with Forbes, which has since been amicably settled, over a spoofed magazine cover.

The magazine's publisher sent out a public statement denying that he had appeared on the cover of the magazine.

On the fake cover Leope appears holding a can of his energy drink.
