CAPE TOWN - Personnel at Working on Fire are receiving trauma counselling following the deaths of two firefighters in a helicopter crash in Bainskloof near Wellington.

Darrel Rea and Jastun Visagie died when their chopper crashed while battling a blaze on the mountain slopes yesterday.

The Civil Aviation Authority and Working on Fire have since launched a joint investigation in to the cause of the accident.

Working on Fire's Linton Rensburg said, "It's a very sad day. We've been through extensive grief and trauma counselling and obviously we are doing as much as possible to work with their respective families."

This tragedy comes just over a month after a veteran pilot died in a helicopter crash while fighting a fire at Cape Point.
