CAPE TOWN - Police say significant progress has been made in their investigation into a family murder in Stellenbosch.

Three members of the Van Breda family were killed at their home in January.

Sixteen-year-old Marli van Breda was discharged from a rehabilitation facility over the weekend.

She sustained serious head injuries during the axe attack.

Her younger brother also survived the attack.

The police's FC Van Wyk has confirmed to Eyewitness News that while progress is being made in the triple murder investigation, any further information relating to the case can't be divulged at this stage.

Marli, who has made remarkable progress following neurosurgery, could be crucial to the probe.

But, while doctors say her recovery is nothing short of a miracle, they say the teen is suffering from retrograde amnesia.

At the moment is unable to recall what happened when her parents and brother were murdered.
