CT’s Station Deck to receive R1m revamp
Public access to the roof of the Civic Centre will be restricted until maintenance work is complete.
CAPE TOWN - The Station Deck taxi rank in Cape Town's CBD will be closed for six days next week for a R1 million overhaul.
Public access to the roof of the Civic Centre will be restricted until maintenance work is complete at the end of the month.
The city's Brett Herron said minibus taxis would temporarily operate from the Grand Parade in Darling Street from Friday.
"We'll be repairing lighting, potholes and cracks in the road. We'll also be allocating new lanes to the various destinations so that the floor of the Station Deck is vastly improved."
Meanwhile, the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) on Monday said it was not informed of the interim relocation.
Santaco's Veron Billet said they were not notified of any renovations.
"I'm not aware of any maintenance that is going to take place at that space, with taxing loading at some other place. Santaco is not aware of it."
