JOHANNESBURG - Despite not being in action this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs continue to edge closer to another PSL title.

A tight 1-0 win over the University of Pretoria on last Tuesday, means the Glamour Boys need just three further points to seal the title.

Sundowns thrashing at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic did little to encourage fans to believe a fairytale chase was possible. The men from the Free State couldn't build on that surprise, going down 1-0 to Maritzburg United.

Supersport United failed to cash in against strugglers Moroka Swallows. Despite being bottom of the table with just six wins out of 26, the Birds held Matsantsantsa to a 1-1 draw.

Wits, looking to finish second on the table, failed to strike against Chippa United as the match at the Bidvest Stadium ended in a goalless draw.

Free State Stars moved up to 14th on the log with an away win over Polokwane City. Goals from Moeketsi Sekola and two from Camaldine Abraw saw them walk away 3-2 winners.

On Friday evening, Ajax Cape Town opened up the weekend with a 2-0 win over AmaTuks in a rather uninspiring affair which saw both goals come in the second half.
