JOHANNESBURG - The Home Affairs Department says it has successfully upgraded its system at half of its offices across the country.

It says while all sites will be open today, 70 of them won't be able to process identity documents and passports.

The department says it has been upgrading systems to process details of disabled people without fingerprints, as well as transferring its data online.

The list of offices which will be offline is only due to be released later, but Director-General Mkuseli Apleni says this will be finalised by tomorrow.

"The only challenge which we had was on the rollout, so currently we've got 70 of offices which are ready to operate and the other 70 we will be proceed to do them today."
