Kenny Kunene to reveal true reasons for leaving EFF
Kunene says he’ll soon expose his reason for leaving the party & how his relationship with Malema turned sour.
JOHANNESBURG - Businessman Kenny Kunene says he will soon reveal his true reasons for leaving the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and how his relationship with once close friends, party leader Julius Malema and his deputy Floyd Shivambu, soured through what he says is the abuse of their members' trust and finances.
Kunene on Tuesday appeared alongside the EFF's now suspended Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Wiekus Kotze, claiming that the party's money was being used to finance the leaders' expensive lifestyles.
They also allege there's intolerance of independent thinking.
Kunene says he considers himself a literal founding member of the party and Kotze says the businessman has been helping him expose irregular financial management.
Kunene has warned of South Africa descending into a dictatorship with Malema at the helm, and says the EFF's current campaigns are meant to cause anarchy.
"The plans of the EFF, even those that are unfolding now, I was part of them. That is why they thought that they were managing me when I was not talking. Now that they've exposed themselves and now that they've become very personal with me, principle falls away. Why I left the EFF and the plans of the EFF will be unfolded very, very soon."
Meanwhile, the EFF has challenged Kotze to produce evidence to back up his claims.
