Police used teargas and rubber bullets to disperse a crowd of angry community members.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are using teargas and rubber bullets in Cosmo City on the West Rand to disperse a crowd of angry community members.
Earlier the sheriff of the court tried to enforce an order to evict a family.
The police's Kay Makhubela says residents have started throwing stones at motorists.
"They tried to block the roads and they mobilised themselves to stop the sheriff and the police had to intervene."
A woman has advised other motorists to avoid the area, saying police have closed off Malibongwe Drive.
Another man says protesters damaged his vehicle.
"The police are nowhere to be found and the people were moved because they have built on top of sewage pipes."
