Free State Stars player dies in car crash
Richard Henyekane was travelling with other passengers when they were involved in a motor vehicle accident.
JOHANNESBURG - Free State Stars has confirmed the passing of their striker Richard Henyekane in the early hours of this morning.
Henyekane was travelling with four other passengers when they were involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident.
"We wish to say to the Henyekane family that they must know that we are with them at all times, and trust that they will put all their sorrows in the hands of God the Almighty in this hard period", a statement on the club's website read.
Henyekane's brother, Joseph, also passed away last year after short illness.
He played for Golden Arrows and Mpumalanga Black Aces.
The Free State Stars's Lebogang Makheta said, "Richard was travelling from Qwaqwa to Bethlehem where he collided with a truck. It was him and another gentlemen he was travelling with and three ladies. All the players are devastated."
