DA’s Jack Bloom refused entry into Natalspruit hospital
He was told to "go to hell" and was threatened by security when trying to assess the patient file system.
JOHANNESBURG - While serious concerns about Gauteng's Hospitals continue to be raised, a member of the legislature was kicked out of the Natalspruit Hospital in Vosloorus on an unannounced visit.
The Democratic Alliance's (DA) Jack Bloom was told to leave the facility last week and was threatened by security when trying to assess the computerised patient file system.
It's also not the first time he has been kicked out of a hospital while trying to highlight several inefficiencies.
Bloom is renowned for visiting Gauteng hospitals, unannounced, often raising serious issues; from medicine shortages to long queues.
This time Bloom and his colleague were told to "go to hell", which he said was uncalled for.
"I think the security personnel should be disciplined, they had no right to refuse us entry into the hospital. What are they hiding? Is there some big secret there?"
The Gauteng Health Department said the matter had been brought to its attention, but emphasised that certain protocols need to be followed when visiting hospitals.
