JOHANNESBURG - Lawyers for murder accused George Louca say they will approach the courts to have him moved from a Pretoria prison hospital to either a state or private health care facility if correctional services don't transfer him.

Louca is accused of killing strip club boss, Lolly Jackson in May 2010.

The Cypriot was extradited last year to stand trial in South Africa.

His lawyers say he needs special medical attention after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Louca's attorney, Owen Bloomberg, says his client had great difficulty breathing yesterday.

"There was an attempt to take him to a government hospital but he was refused admission so he was taken back to the current hospital where they are unable to treat him properly."

Bloomberg says if his client is not moved from the prison hospital before the end of day he will consider going to the high court to force the department to act.

It was revealed two weeks ago that his medical report states that the Cypriot's cancer is inoperable and untreatable.

In a letter signed by the hospital's CEO, Doctor Ernest Kenoshi, it's confirmed an open chest biopsy of a tumour on his right lung was done earlier this month.

It's revealed Louca has stage four malignant mesothelioma, an aggressive cancer affecting the membrane lining of the lungs.

He was assessed by medical and radiation oncologists and it was decided that his cancer is neither surgically removable nor treatable by chemotherapy.

In one report, a radiation oncologist describes the prognosis as extremely bleak with a limited life expectancy.

Doctors have suggested a palliative course of radiotherapy to relieve his symptoms.

It's believed that Louca holds the key to several underworld killings.
