EFF plans to destroy more 'colonial' statues
After torching a statue in Uitenhage, party members have identified 8 other 'insulting' statues in PE.
CAPE TOWN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Eastern Cape says an attempt by its members to destroy a statue in Uitenhage is the start of a campaign to rid the province of symbols of colonial power.
Ten EFF members set an Anglo-Boer war memorial statue alight yesterday.
They also used a sledgehammer to try and bring it down, but were stopped by police.

The EFF's Bo Madwara says they have identified eight other similar statues in the Port Elizabeth region.
"What we want to do at the end of the day is make sure all these insulting and painful images are put down."
A few weeks ago, EFF leader Julius Malema instructed party members to take down all symbols of colonial power.
Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property but have not made any arrests.
