Tinkler surprised by Bafana's decision to substitute Majoro
Eric Tinkler says he was taken aback by that decision because Majoro has been working hard to get fit.
JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has told EWN Sport that he doesn't understand why Lehlohonolo Majoro was substituted in Bafana Bafana's match against Swaziland last week.
Majoro was recalled to the national team thanks to his brilliant form from Pirates in the league and made in Shakes Mashaba's starting lineup, only to be taken off at half time.
Tinkler says he was taken aback by that decision because Majoro has been working hard to get himself fit and sharp.
"He worked extremely hard. You know over the December/January period, he lost quite a lot of weight which was good for him and good for us obviously. I was a bit surprised to see him being substituted before halftime and as yet I haven't been informed what the reason behind it was."
He says Majoro being called up is testament to the club's improvement in the striking department.
"I think we are very successful in the second half of the season, we've been scoring goals. Majoro and Kermit [Erasmus] have both been getting on the score sheet. We've increased our goal percentage per game."
