N3 shootout: Police on the hunt for suspects
Two police officers were killed and one was wounded during the shootout.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are still searching for more suspects following a shootout on the N3 highway near Modderfontein in which two police officers were killed and one was wounded.
Police had stopped a suspicious vehicle when the shootout happened on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza says they're still searching for a number of suspects.
"The police investigation is continuing into the shootout that happened on the highway on the Edenvale off-ramp."

Traffic on the N3 came to a standstill after the highway was closed to airlift the victims.

Officials recovered a car believed to have been stolen as well as several firearms.
One suspect has been arrested and is currently under police guard after he was wounded during the incident.
