JOHANNESBURG - Australia are chasing 184 to win and be crowned the 2015 Cricket World Cup champions.

Earlier, the Aussies stifled New Zealand's dangerous batting line-up, bowling the Kiwis out for 183 in 45 overs. Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to bat.

He was soon back in the pavilion after being bowled for a duck.

The only New Zealand batsmen who offered any significant resistance were Grant Elliot (83) and Ross Taylor (40).

Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson and James Faulkner each picked up three wickets.

Australia started their run chase by losing the wicket of Aaron Finch for a duck in the second over.

Steve Smith and David Warner steadied the ship for the Aussies as they made light work of the Black Caps' bowlers.

The Aussies were on 74 for two after 16 overs.
