Reports: Jeremy Clarkson likely to be fired
The 54-year-old 'Top Gear' host was suspended two weeks ago for allegedly striking his colleague.
LONDON - It's being reported that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked on Wednesday following a BBC investigation into claims he punched a producer.
The 54-year-old host was suspended two weeks ago for allegedly striking his colleague when he was offered cold cuts of meat instead of a hot steak.
Lord Hall, the Director-General of the BBC, is expected to announce the findings of the investigation into the incident.
On Tuesday, Clarkson said it had nothing to do with his future with the broadcaster, but it's thought that the BBC will acknowledge his work on the show, yet it will declare that it has no choice but to dismiss him.
Clarkson has hosted the programme since 1988 and Top Gear has grown into the BBC's most successful export, sold in more than 200 countries and bringing in around R900 million a year.
A petition in support of the broadcaster was supported by almost 1 million people, making the stakes for any decision very high.
Top Gear fans have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions.
Time to make my Sunday 8pm #TopGear substitution a permanent thing! Seriously gutted for Top Gear but I know it'll be back🚗🚗🚗

Fans of Top Gear need to accept that one man has ruined their show for them and his name is Jeremy Clarkson
