CWU: We will fight to the bitter end to protect Telkom employees
On Friday workers gathered at the parastatal’s head offices in Pretoria to protest.
JOHANNESBURG - The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has once again raised its frustrations around job security with Telkom.
Earlier on Friday workers gathered at the parastatal's head offices in Pretoria to protest against plans to restructure the company.
Last month Telkom announced plans to close down over 90 stores which may leave thousands of workers without jobs.
The union's Clyde Mervin said if Telkom went ahead with retrenchments it should brace for mass action.
"We are tired of outsourcing, we are tired of retrenchments, since 1999, we have lost 60,000 jobs. We are going to fight to the bitter end to protect the jobs of workers."
