Counselling provided to CT school staff after robbery
The principal was held up at gunpoint yesterday after armed robbers entered his office.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department says counselling is being provided to Windermere Primary School staff, in Cape Town, following a robbery yesterday.
The principal was held up at gunpoint yesterday morning after armed robbers entered his office, demanding he open the safe.
The robbers were with an accomplice who had posed as a parent.
The department's Jessica Shelver says it is not clear how much money was stolen in the incident.
"They robbed the principal of the funds that were in the office and made off with an undisclosed amount. The education department immediately dispatched a psychologist to the school."
Meanwhile, principal Brian Chellan says classes resumed this morning and that while some staff members are traumatised, they're all back at school today.
"The staff is still very tramautised, I have asked for assistance, and safer schools. They have sent someone to come and speak to us this afternoon."
