JOHANNESBURG - Separate memorial services will be held in Pretoria on Thursday for the late Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane and his two bodyguards.

Sergeant Lesiba Sekele, who has been working for Chabane since 2009, and Lawrence Lentsoane also died in the accident on the N1 highway in Limpopo on Sunday morning.

The vehicle they were travelling in smashed into a truck.

The truck driver has been charged with culpable homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will be paying tribute to Chabane alongside scores of mourners who will gather at the Tshwane Events Centre on Thursday afternoon.

Government spokesperson Phumla Williams says a memorial service will be held at 10am for Chabane's two guards.

"It will be addressed by the Minister of Police together with senior police management."

Williams says colleagues will gather at the police academy in Tshwane.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday at Limpopo and the president ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast at the time.
