JOHANNESBURG - In a relatively quiet domestic footballing weekend, very little ground was made on log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Stuart Baxter's men and Mamelodi Sundowns were both involved in CAF Champions League action so neither had a chance to build on their league performances this weekend.

Amakhosi remain eight clear, but the Brazilians do have a game in hand.

Polokwane City cut the gap between themselves and Bloemfontein Celtic down to one point after an inspiring 3-0 win at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

In a mid-table battle, two second half goals from Bradley Grobler handed Gordon Igesund's men their ninth win of the season.

Platinum Stars' poor run in the league continued when they were beaten 2-1 at home to Maritzburg United. An 89th minute goal from Mohau Mokate proved to be the winner for Maritzburg as they move into the top eight.

Swallows continue to struggle in the relegation fight. Their 2-1 loss to Mpumalanga Black Aces sees them second from the bottom with just six wins out of 23.

Shared spoils between Chippa United and AmaZulu keep Usuthu bottom of the table. Despite good wins over Wits and SuperSport recently, they're still languishing in last place with just three wins out of 23.
