City clamps down on prostitution hot spots in PTA
The City of Tshwane has blamed prostitution for contributing to the high levels of crime & drug abuse.
JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane has taken a stand against prostitution in Pretoria Central, blaming the practice for contributing to the high levels of crime and drug abuse in the area.
On Saturday, the city, together with the Crime Free Foundation led a march to hand over a memorandum to the Pretoria Central police station commander.
They want the South African Police Service (SAPS) to step up crime fighting efforts in the area.
The city's Blessing Manale says, "Hoards of young women are brought in as prostitutes. This is not a debate about the legality of prostitution; this is just about the current prostitution hot spots, drugs, child molestation and even isolated cases of human trafficking."
