CAPE TOWN - Police say a Grassy Park teacher is recovering in hospital after he was wounded in an alleged gang crossfire in the area.

The teacher was shot when a group of men opened fire on each other on Thursday.

He was on the school's premises at the time of the incident.

The police's Andre Traut said, "The circumstances surrounding an attempted murder are being investigated following a shooting incident yesterday on the corners of Hector and Edward street. A teacher was wounded while he was standing in the school. He was caught in the cross fire, and we have reason to believe two groups of men shot at each other."
