'JMPD failed to help me during a hijacking'
A Wynberg woman accused the Johannesburg Metro Police of failing to help her when she was attacked.
JOHANNESBURG - A Wynberg woman on Wednesday accused the Johannesburg Metro Police of failing to help her when she was hijacked and nearly kidnapped at a parking lot on Tuesday.
Beverly McCrystal explained that she walked out the office to get something from her car when three armed men tried to shove her into her boot.
McCrystal and several others claimed they tried to alert two Metro Police officers in the area but they simply watched.
"They were screaming at the cops to do something and the only reason I got away was because some gentleman pulled them off me."
The JMPD's Edna Mamonyane said they would investigate once McCrystal was able to come forward with more information.
"There's no way that metro cops or SAPS would have just looked at someone being hijacked."
The incident has been reported to the local police.
