JOHANNESBURG - The daughter of South Africa's ambassador to Tunisia will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court this morning on a charge of police assault but she claims she was manhandled by authorities while trying to record alleged police brutality.

Thandi Losi says she was collecting friends at a nightclub in Sunnyside over the weekend when she noticed a woman being dragged by the neck by police.

She says the woman was being attacked for recording cellphone footage of another arrest taking place.

Losi claims she was then taken into custody even though she wasn't able to record anything that happened.

"I was trying to record police brutality so I had just taken my phone out when a police officer came up to me and arrested. Basically he hit me and put me in the police van.

Losi is the daughter of ambassador Nancy Nonceba-Losi-Tutu.
