Doornkop nine released on bail
The nine men were released on R500 bail in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday.
JOHANNESBURG - The nine men accused of setting a foreign shopkeeper alight in Doornkop, Soweto, have been released on bail of R500 each.
The suspects appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of public violence and attempted murder.
The shop owner was seriously injured when the group allegedly poured paraffin on him and set him alight last month.
The police's Kay Makhubela said one of the suspects was still in hospital under police guard.
"I understand he was injured. He jumped out of the car when he was about to be arrested and that's where he got some injuries."
