NEW YORK - A Delta Airlines plane has skidded off the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Thursday while snow fell over most of the region, NY 1 television and other media reported on Thursday evening.

There were no reports of injuries but the New York City Fire Department said it was responding to the incident.

Images from local media showed the Delta plane on a snowy runway area with its nose smashed into a fence. It was not clear whether the aircraft was landing or taking off when the incident occurred.

The airport has since been closed.
