Woman busted with R6,7m worth of tik at OR Tambo
The drugs were found after officials searched her luggage with sniffer dogs.
JOHANNESBURG - A woman carrying crystal meth worth around R6,7 million has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport.
She arrived from Dubai on Monday.
The tik was discovered as officials searched her luggage with sniffer dogs.
South African Revenue Service spokesperson, Marika Muller said the drugs were hidden in children's plastic tables.
"When one of those tables was examined, all the hollow pieces we found contained a substance which was confirmed to be crystal methamphetamine."
Last year, two women were arrested at Cape Town International Airport in separate incidents after they were caught smuggling drugs.
Police say they discovered heroin in the baggage of one suspect, while the other apparently had cocaine in her possession.
