Former top cop expected in court for drunk driving
A former deputy chief of Tshwane Metro police was arrested on Saturday following a collision in Pretoria CBD.
JOHANNESBURG - A former deputy chief of Tshwane Metro police is expected in the Pretoria Magistrates Court this morning on charges of driving under the influence.
He was arrested on Saturday night following a collision in the Pretoria inner city.
Police say the former deputy chief threatened officers after he was involved in the accident.
It's understood he was tested on the scene and found to be under the influence of alcohol while the other driver involved in the crash tested negative.
Eyewitness News understands that the former deputy chief served under former Metro Police chief Mpho Mmutle, who was the subject of an investigation in 2004 after he was alleged he was not qualified to hold his position and was appointed because of nepotism.
