JOHANNESBURG - The police have yet to explain why they did not arrest a knife-wielding man who in an apparent drunken tirade, threatened to murder his neighbours.

The incident and the threats were caught on camera yesterday morning in Sandton.

The man who appears to be drunk wields a 30cm long blade as he threatens a couple.

In a fit of rage, the seemingly drunk man waves a knife around as he threatened to kill his neighbours.

"I studied and worked in the f boere places like you are, boere! I'm going to fing cut your guts out. I will kill you."

Despite being shown the evidence of the clear threat, the police who responded to the emergency call declined to arrest the knife-wielding man.

Instead, they suggested the complainant open a case of intimidation at the local police station.

Eyewitness News asked the police to explain why the responding officers did not act to ensure the safety of the victims but have not responded to questions.
