JOHANNESBURG - The Metrobus service is set to conduct an internal investigation into the cause of an accident involving one of its buses in the Johannesburg CBD on Wednesday.

A Metrobus plummeted off the Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Braamfontein after the driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed through the concrete barrier, landing upright on the road below.

There were no passengers in the bus, but the driver will be charged.

Metrobus spokesperson Esther Dreyer said, "One of the superintendents from Milpark went to visit him this morning and he's doing well. We can't do anything while he is still hospitalised but they are investigating it."
