JOHANNESBURG - Police used teargas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters in Thembelihle in Lenasia this morning.

Community members took to the streets over poor service delivery.

Several roads were blocked off with burning tyres and protesters stoned vehicles.

A community member said several people were injured when police tried to disperse them.

"They used stun grenades, rubber bullets and some people have been injured."

The police's Kay Makhubela says officers had to use force.

"Is it necessary for people who are throwing stones to know that they will damage cars, they will damage other property and also injure other people."
