JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department says it will not tolerate any more disruptions at the Roodepoort Primary School in Davidsonville by parents who claim the school principal is corrupt.

The department claims the coloured community doesn't approve of the appointment of a black acting principal.

But both black and coloured parents have rubbished these claims.

Pupils have not been attending school since Monday.

Parents wrote to the Education Department last October claiming the principal had been appointed unlawfully and is corrupt and unqualified.

But the department's Phumla Sekhonyane says an internal investigation was launched and later found the allegations against the principal were not true.

"We then hired an independent law firm to look at the process and whether it was flawed and the report we got from the law firm is that there were no flaws in the process.

Police have had to escort teachers off the premises this afternoon.

Some teachers claim they are being threatened by parents.

Earlier this year, nine out of 13 black teachers were reporting to the district office and not the school after telling the Provincial Education Department that they fear for their lives.

The black teachers are back this week, but the department says 19 coloured teachers have abandoned their posts without giving any reason.
