CWU to protest over Telkom’s restructuring process
The union says over 500 call centre workers have already been removed from their posts.
The union on Wednesday met in Johannesburg over an announcement of job cuts at Telkom.
It said over 500 call centre workers had already been removed from their posts.
The CWU's Aubrey Tshabalala said Telkom needed to explain its decision to dismiss thousands of workers.
"CWU stand firm and resolute in its position to take to any recklessness, restructuring or outsourcing process which involves retrenchments on a wider scale."
Tshabalala said they would mobilize employees next week and take to the streets.
"We target 25 February 2015 to start our rolling mass action."
The union also raised concerns over the management of the South African Post Office, and once again called on government to intervene.
