CAPE TOWN - Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler and Joey have been replaced with selfie-obsessed hipsters addicted to smartphones in a hilarious video that imagines how 90s sitcom _Friends _would look if it was made today.

Updated with today's gadgets and fashions, Friends Rebooted characters wear hipster styles, including beards, fringes and glasses and all six characters are obsessed with their phone.

Even the catchy _I'll be there for you _theme song by The Rembrandts has been remixed with updated lyrics addressing online dating, becoming a vegan and going dairy-free.

The updated Friends Rebooted theme song begins with, "No one told you life was gonna be this way, your Tinder profile sucks and you spilled your almond milk latte..."

This video, uploaded by a group called Nerdist, re-imagines the sitcom in a modern-day setting, with some very entertaining results.

The video has been viewed more than 350,000 times since it was posted on YouTube last week.

Watching Friends now is like stepping back in time, to an era where mobile phones, social media and selfie sticks weren't a priority.

Friends isn't the only show Nerdist has parodied.

The group releases a new comedy video covering different areas of pop culture on their YouTube channel every two weeks.
