JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says it expects the power grid to remain constrained but stable today and for now, no load shedding is scheduled.

The utility says two of its major generators came back online yesterday.

Eskom has had to implement rolling blackouts since last month, citing problems with ageing infrastructure.

Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says, "Our prognosis is showing that this week is going to be relatively the same as it was yesterday but all of this is dependent on all of our generators working optimally."

Over the weekend Eskom implemented out stage two load shedding in many areas, after it had suggested South Africa might be in for a weekend free of rolling blackouts.

The power giant said it was experiencing difficulties in keeping up with demand.
