CAPE TOWN - Schools in the Western Cape are readying themselves for the upcoming governing body elections.

Education MEC Debbie Schafer says the launch the official election campaign tomorrow aims to encourage more parents to get involved in school governance.

Schafer says, "It's incredibly important for parents to become involved in their parents education. The governing bodies have a very important role to play in working with the principal. They determine admission policy, language policy, they also have a huge role to play in the appointment of teachers and principals."

Provincial schools will elect new leadership next month.
