JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Metro Police Department says close to two hundred motorists have been arrested and charged with drunken driving at a number of road blocks this weekend.
The highest number of arrests was recorded in the CBD with over 40 people caught driving under the influence.
Metro police say it is concerning that the number of drunken driving incidents has almost doubled over the week.
Spokesperson Wayne Mienaar says, "Almost all of these had paid bail of R1,500 and will have to appear in various courts once the results of the blood samples are made available."
