JOHANNESBURG - The presidency has announced that provincial funerals for late SACP and ANC leaders Moses Kotane and JB Marks will be held next month.

Both leaders died in Russia and were buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow in the 70s.

President Zuma met with Russian federal leader Vladimir Putin in August last year to have their remains returned to their families.

Spokesperson Mac Maharaj says the special official funeral for the late Mr Moses Kotane will be held on 14 March 2015 in Pela North West.

Kotane was a major anti-apartheid political figure during South Africa's struggle years. He was described by Walter Sisulu as a "giant of the struggle".

The special funeral for the late Mr JB Marks will be held on 22 March 2015 in Ventersdorp North West.

Marks was at the time of his death the Chairman of the SACP and Treasurer General of the ANC.
