JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Metro Police have arrested thirty five people after launching a new safety campaign called Operation Ke Molao.

The campaign is focused on removing illegal window washers, smash and grabbers and other offenders.

JMPD says some of those arrested yesterday were illegal immigrants.

The group have been charged with loitering.

Earlier this week, the JMPD made a commitment to monitor and clamp down on suspicious activity at major intersections.

Spokesperson Wayne Minaar says, "Those who were arrested were released after they had paid an admission of guilt fine of R300 each, while the Department of Home Affairs would process the illegal immigrants."
