JOHANNESBURG - Power utility Eskom has confirmed that stage-one load shedding will be implemented across the country from 2pm until later this evening.

This is the third time this week that the power utility has implemented load shedding.

Eskom has warned that the system has been vulnerable and increased electricity use is making it difficult to keep up with demand.

The parastatal's Khulu Phasiwe says this is partly due to the heatwave.

"We don't have enough generating capacity to meet the demand."

He urged all consumers to reduce their consumption in order to reduce the severity of load shedding.
