Eskom starts load shedding again
Eskom has announced that it will implement stage one load shedding between 5pm and 10pm.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has announced that it will implement stage one load shedding between 5pm and 10pm.
Earlier today, the power utility suspended rolling blackouts, saying electricity demand had been reduced and several units out on maintenance had returned to service.
It had however warned, that if the power system became constrained, load shedding would have to commence.
The utility's Khulu Phasiwe says the situation changed this afternoon when several generators broke down.
"Our technicians will do everything possible to return the generators back to service soon."
The parastatal in the meantime urged customers to continue to use energy sparingly.
The grid was under intense strain this morning leading to warnings of rolling black outs, but the power utility said demand has decreased considerably.
