'Thokoza House of Horror' father charged with raping daughter
Police say the man allegedly held his six children captive and abused them for years.
JOHANNESBURG - Police say a man who allegedly held his children captive and abused them for years in Greenfields near Thokoza on the East Rand has now been formally charged with raping his 15-year-old daughter.
Angry residents broke down the wall around the house of the 53-year-old man this week after he allegedly attacked two people.
A number of residents say they always suspected something bad was happening behind the high walls of the house, now known as the " Thokoza House of Horror".
They say the man was feared by the whole community and claimed no one was allowed to go near the premises.
It's understood the children aged between two and 21 were abused and were not allowed to communicate with neighbours. A 21-year-old man who was reportedly held captive.

Five of the six children have been taken to places of safety and are undergoing counselling.
The police's Mega Ndobe says, "it was discovered that a 15-year-old girl was sexually abused."
The children were often made to go for days without food and the eldest, who is 21, was not allowed to go to school.
Residents in Greenfields say they are relieved that the father of six was finally arrested adding that the children will now try and start a new life.
