JOHANNESBURG - The Tshwane Metro Police's special projects team has recovered more than two tons of stolen copper cable at a Silverton scrap dealer.

The unit followed up on a tip-off from the community, and monitored the business before conducting the raid yesterday.

The unit monitored activities at the scrap dealer and then raided the property when the dealer was caught operating after hours.

The metro police's Kuki Tshabalala said, "They copper to the value of R90,000 hidden in a container."

Officers also found other electricity supply equipment removed from transformers, as well as stolen water meters.

It's also emerged the two suspects who have been arrested were apprehended for the same offenses earlier this month.
