CAPE TOWN - A non-governmental organisation (NGO) which assists victims of abuse says the murder of a two-month-old Paarl baby once again highlights the vulnerability of young children in some communities.

The little boy was killed at the weekend by a man who allegedly kicked and jumped on him.

Matla A Bana says the latest case of child abuse in the Western Cape is another side of the risk of violence against young children.

The organisation's Monique Strydom has appealed to communities to play a bigger role in the fight against child abuse.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the baby's murder in Paarl.

It is not clear what led to the incident.

According to police, the suspect is expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrates Court on Friday.
