JOHANNESBURG - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi says she's shocked and horrified at what she says is the undermining utterances of Democratic Alliance (DA) communications spokesperson Gavin Davis.

The minister claims Davis has made false accusations involving the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)and that she will not allow there to be a perception that "a black female minister needs a white male babysitter".

Earlier this week, Davis said Muthambi was interfering with the running of the SABC, claiming she was trying to force SABC board members to resign.

In her statement, Muthambi says there is prima facie evidence that Davis is illegally colluding with individuals behind the scenes and that he should not act like an irresponsible shop steward.

She also claims that he is parading as a so-called DA Shadow Minister of Communications.

In his statement, Davis said Muthambi's delay in appointing a new chief executive could be so that Hlaudi Motsoeneng ran the corporation in an acting capacity for a longer period.
