JOHANNESBURG - Water cuts in Johannesburg, which were planned for this weekend, have now been cancelled.

The city had initially intended cutting water supply to several areas between Saturday and Sunday to carry out maintenance work at one of its pump stations.

Yesterday the city announced that it would be doing maintenance on its Eikenhof Pump Station from Saturday evening at 6pm until Sunday evening at 7pm.

However this has been postponed due to logistical issues.

Johannesburg Water's Eleanor Mavimbela said, "Although this weekend's interruptions have been cancelled, they will still happen as soon as we have a date we will communicate that to residents."

Last year, a number of suburbs in Johannesburg were without water for several days because of a power outage at the Eikeinhof Pumping Station.
