Zambia elections: Motlanthe to lead AU observer mission
Zambians will vote in a presidential by-election after the death of President Michael Sata.
LUSAKA - Former Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is set to lead the African Union (AU)'s election observer mission to Zambia.
Thirty-five observers will be part of the AU's observer mission and Motlanthe will be there to lead them.
As head of the mission, he will meet with the Electoral Commission of Zambia, political parties and some of the presidential candidates.
Some five million Zambians will vote in the by-election for a new president.
But the general election will still go ahead next year.
