‘Century City killer’ case postponed
The 30-year-old man from Gugulethu appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate Court today.
CAPE TOWN - The case against a Gugulethu man who is being investigated for possibly being linked to a spate of rapes and murders across the cape peninsula has been postponed for a formal bail application.
The 30-year-old man appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate Court today.
He's facing a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstance and one count of rape dating back to February 2013.
Police are investigating whether he could be involved in the bodies that were found near Century City Station over the past few months.
Proceedings were brief in the courtroom as the accused entered the dock.
Some relatives of victims who were found buried in shallow graves near Century City joined dozens of others who crammed into the public gallery.
They say they'll be back at court as they desperately want to know if the accused is involved in the deaths of their loved ones.
The man will be back in court on Thursday where he's expected to apply for bail.
He's taken part in an identity parade as detectives are trying to determine if he can be linked to other crimes.
