JOHANNESBURG - Mountain climbers and paramedics have found a woman's body at the bottom of Northcliff Hill after she fell to her death yesterday evening.

Mountain Club South Africa was called out by paramedics to try to reach the woman after she fell over 15 metres.

After descending the hill with ropes the climbers found the woman's body.

It's understood the woman was 20 years old, and was at the popular viewing spot with her boyfriend. A woman who was at the hill at the time says the pair was taking photos when the victim lost her balance and fell.

The witness says although the woman's boyfriend did manage to reach her paramedics were unable to do so without the help of the Mountain Club climbers..

Mountain Club SA's Deon van der Merve says paramedics had to send her body back up the hill with ropes.

"Paramedics and rescuers' efforts to get to the female and attempt to save a life were unfortunately not successful and she passed away some time after the paramedics reached her at the bottom of the cliff."
