JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana started off the brighter of the two sides in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) warm-up match against Mali in Libreville, Gabon.

Thuso Phala led the charge for the South Africans in the early exchanges but couldn't convert the two chances that fell for him.

Ahmed Doumbia then launched two attacks on the goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane's goals but the Bafana number one kept the Malian midfielder at bay.

Bongani Ndulula won a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box and a well-delivered cross from Mandla Masango was met by Thulani Hlatshwayo to put Bafana ahead.

Coach Shakes Mashaba's men took the 1-0 lead into the half-time break.
